Winona Ryder professionally Winona Ryder was born on Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter on her home town. Their father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. She is the younger sister of Uria and two half-siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. At the age of seven, Ryder was just seven, her family relocated to Mendocino County California. There they didn't have electricity. The books on television would be the sole way for her time, and she began to read extensively. Ryder started taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was twelve years old. In 1986, she got her first major-screen appearance in the movie Lucas at just 15 years old. Ryder was bullied at her high school. Her performance career, as she had hoped, would help her. However, it didn't come to pass. However, she remained committed to her goals. Ryder made her breakthrough with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder continued to perform successful characters in numerous films. In 1993, she was nominated twice for Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part in The Age of Innocence.
